Foundation Learning

Preston Vocational Centre is offering a personalised and flexible programme of learning, based around qualifications and credit framework (QCF) and is focused on progression
.
The FL programme is made up of three areas:
  • Vocational or subject training
  • Personal and social development
  • Functional skills (Maths, English, ICT).
The programme is aimed at learners aged 14-19 working predominantly at entry level or level 1, but is assessable to learners ages 19-25 years with learning difficulties.
We aim to deliver a personalised programme, based on initial assessment to identify the learners prior achievements.

Learners have an option of taking up to 5 qualifications on the programme, with the average time of completion being approximately 16 weeks depending on the individuals progress. These are made from each area of learning e.g.
  • BTEC Level 1 Award (8 credits)
  • PSD Level 1 Award (4 credits)
  • Functional skills-Maths (4 credits)
  • English (4 credits)
  • ICT (4 credits)
