Syrian Resettlement Programme

As part of PVC’s Festival of Building Skills, where a grand total of £21,188 was raised through The Big Give Christmas Campaign, PVC were delighted to welcome a group of young men from Lancashire’s Syrian Resettlement Programme.  On Tuesday 16th April, PVC hosted a ‘Have A Go’ day and participants attended hour long sessions within bricklaying, plastering, plumbing and decorating - not forgetting the pizza for lunch!  After the sessions, the group thanked PVC for inviting them, they really enjoyed their day trying different trades and felt welcomed and well looked after.

Lancashire’s Syrian Resettlement Programme supports young people who have fled war torn countries before completing their education, along with highly skilled professionals who are struggling to have their qualifications recognised in the UK.  The programme provides a helping hand to understand the UK’s systems and working culture with the ultimate aim for them becoming financially independent.   PVC very much value and appreciate the money raised through the Festival of Building Skills programme because this enables support for a variety of communities towards developing plans to help people back into work.
