Bricklaying Work Experience Turns into Apprenticeship for PVC Student

PVC student, James gained an insight into the role of a Bricklayer with Keepmoat Homes subcontractor, J & J Bricklayers, on their Farington Mews development site in Leyland.

James found a passion for bricklaying when studying for a City and Guilds Level 1 Qualification in Construction Skills at PVC and was excited to get the chance to spend time on a real building site.

The work experience placement gave James the opportunity to get an insight into the day-to-day life of a bricklayer working on a housing development whilst gaining practical hands-on experience in the construction industry. Following the successful work experience, James applied for a bricklaying apprenticeship at Keepmoat Homes and was successful.

Work experience is a great way for candidates to gain an insight into a role that interests them. PVC really appreciates all the support that employers offer to our students. These opportunities are really beneficial to our students and can help them to realise their future potential.

If you are an employer with the capacity to offer work experience to our students please get in touch, we would love to hear from you!
