Earlier this week we were invited to attend the Youth Build UK awards at the House of Commons in London.
We are delighted to share that one of our students, Luca, was awarded the Highly Commended Young Builder of the Year Award.
We are also proud that Preston Vocational Centre (PVC) was named among the top four finalists for ‘Best Supporting Organisation’.
Although we did not win, we had a great day and are incredibly proud that our commitment to supporting the futures of young people has been recognised at a national level.
The Young Builder of the Year Awards celebrate the achievements of young people, who despite overcoming a range of challenges, have succeeded in building bright futures in the construction industry.
Luca has shown a real determination and passion for learning. His intelligence and resilience have helped him to overcome any challenges that have come his way and make huge progress both academically and personally.
Despite managing asthma and recently being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Luca’s motivation and outlook have driven his success throughout his training.
The awards ceremony also recognised the role that vocational education providers and charities have in helping young people re-engage with learning and achieve their potential.
Martin Grayston, Centre Manager at PVC, said,
“It was a fantastic day and a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our student Luca and the hard work of the team who support our learners every day.
“We are so proud of Luca, he is so deserving of this recognition. He has made a lasting impression on the team at PVC with his resilience and hard work, which we have all had the pleasure to witness.
“It’s always an absolute pleasure to see our young people achieve success and I couldn’t be prouder.
“The continued support from the amazing team here at PVC continues to make a difference to the lives of young people.”
